ARRIVING BY PLANE: The nearest airport is the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto (OPO),
65 kms from Viana do Castelo. Viana do Castelo is easily reached from Porto by train and by bus.

TAP Air Portugal is the ESCAMPIG official carrier and offers a discount on airplane tickets for the ESCAMPIG participants who are flying to Porto or Lisboa and buying airplane tickets through the TAP website and paying with credit card. Please ask the LOC for the promotional code.

A regular metro service operates (check map on Mapa_de_rede.pdf) between Porto (Oporto) Airport (Aeroporto, E line (purple)), Porto Center (Trindade) and the main railway station (Campanhã) all on the same line.

Shuttles from the airport: A Shuttle service will be organized by "Agência Abreu" from Porto airport to Viana do Castelo. More information on this service will be available soon.

ARRIVING BY TRAIN: Viana do Castelo is easily reached from Porto by train. There are daily trains between Porto to Viana do Castelo from 6 am to 9 pm, leaving from Porto main railway station (Porto Campanhã) to Viana do Castelo. Price: a one way ticket costs about 8 euros. Travel time: 1h20m (direct) / 1h40 (changing at the station "Nine"). A timetable can be found here. Bear in mind that some trains require a change at the town of "Nine".

ARRIVING BY BUS: There are daily bus services between Porto and Viana do Castelo. Travel time is 1h30min and the price is 6.50€ (one way). ARRIVING BY TAXI: You can get a taxi directly between Porto airport and Viana do Castelo (about one hour travel time). For a one way trip, the prices range from 80 euros (3 passengers) to 96 euros (8 passengers). More information can be obtained here and in the company webpage.

ARRIVING BY CAR: If you are coming from the South (Porto), take highway IC1 to Viana do Castelo. The trip takes about 45 minutes. If you are coming from the North, enter in Portugal by Tuy/Valença, continue along A3 and take exit 24 to Arcos de Valdevez. Continue along IC9 and exit towards IC1. This route takes about 40 minutes.

ARRIVING BY BOAT: Viana do Castelo has a marina located at the Lima River, in the center of the city. The marina was built in 1992 and has excellent conditions. It is safe and easy to enter. There you can find fuel and repair facilities, if needed.
